Battery anode material (BAM) business EcoGraf (EGR) has made progress on its lithium-ion facility in the Kwinana-Rockingham industrial zone of Western Australia.
EGR has completed process vendor equipment test work at the facility which has confirmed suitability, resulting in final equipment selection and equipment guarantees.
The company has also finalised regulatory permitting and approvals studies covering noise, air and bushfire management that support regulatory submissions. The approval process began in October last year.
Thirdly, EcoGraf has commenced the procurement process for key overseas long lead equipment, enabling delivery program compression. This includes equipment related to the battery supply chain such as mechanical shaping equipment.
Lastly, EGR has expanded its project delivery team to manage key supply contracts, site services, utilities, and operational readiness aspects such as logistics and reagents.
The company remains focused on stage one development, with engineering continuing to optimise and incorporate new product lines for the expanded 20 thousand tonnes per annum (tpa) facility.
The facility will reportedly be the first of its type globally as it recovers battery-grade graphite without the use of hydrofluoric acid (HF), a highly corrosive and toxic chemical.
With the use of the patent-pending HFfree purification technology, the facility will export high-quality, sustainably-produced BAM products to anode, lithium-ion battery and electric vehicle markets.
Shares in EcoGraf were trading 8.46 per cent higher at 70.5 cents.
