EcoGraf has submitted works and development approval proposals for its new battery anode material (BAM) facility in Western Australia.
The company plans to achieve operational commissioning in the first half of 2023 with the plant design to allow for the production of both standard and hybrid EV batteries. The design is to facilitate modular expansion to increase production to 20,000 tonnes per annum.
In addition, EcoGraf said it is adopting a zero-waste operating strategy that includes maximising the recycling and re-purposing of production inputs, eliminating all gaseous emissions and value-adding by-products.
The new facility will use the company’s HFfree purification process, which it says has been developed through extensive analysis and optimisation over the last 5 years in Australia and Germany.
This analysis includes the successful testing of global feedstocks and the completion of product qualification programs.

EcoGraf Managing Director Andrew Spinks has described the submission as a milestone achievement.
“Finalising the plant layout and submission documents is a milestone achievement by our EcoGraf team and consultants due to the extensive body of work that’s required and includes our recent positive technical results,” he said.
Shares were up 7 per cent, trading at 61 cents at 11.35 am AEDT.
