EcoGraf (EGR) has successfully produced the first GreenRECARB products as part of the company’s development program for the new battery anode material facility in WA.

GreenRECARB is a recarburiser additive for use in electric arc and induction furnace steel
manufacturing processes. The aim of the product is for steel manufactures to replace the use of fossil fuel-based calcined petroleum coke products.

The products have achieved the specifications needed to be used as an environmentally superior replacement for additives used by global steel manufactures.

The advantages of using GreenRECARB include improved carbon absorption efficiency and a low-emission manufacturing process compared to existing coke products.

EcoGraf will now send product samples to potential customers for operational evaluation.

Electric arc furnace steel production currently accounts for around 30 per cent of the global steel market and requires a minimum of 3 to 4 per cent recarburiser additive, providing a market opportunity of up to one million tonnes of recarburiser each year.

“Data obtained from the process flowsheet and pelletiser manufacturing route adopted for the GreenRECARB production program will be used for initial engineering design works in parallel with the customer testing program,” the company said.

On the market today, EcoGraf was down 1.64 per cent and is trading at 60 cents per share at 1:29 pm AEDT.
