Eden Innovations’ (EDE) EdenCrete product has been used in an ongoing renovation project at the Denver International Airport.
With some potential light at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic tunnel, United Airlines has begun work on improving sections of the airport that require attention. In particular, several 26-year-old concrete panels on the apron of the airport’s maintenance hangar have deteriorated over time.
The panels had cracked due to alkali silica reactivity, exhibited scaling due to chemical attack from de-icing chemicals, and shown wear and tear from abrasion caused by aeroplan tyres. As such, the panels required removal and replacement.
In February 2020, Eden Innovation’s EdenCrete product was taken for a test run, replacing several small sections of concrete on the maintenance hangar apron. After being used for over a year, the sections showed no sign of deterioration.
As a result, the general contractor Maynard Construction specified the use of EdenCrete for replacing the first five adjacent concrete panels at the apron. A total of less than US$2400 (roughly A$3110) worth of EdenCrete was required to complete the task.
The contractor, Maximum Civil Construction, has reported that concrete pumped, placed, and finished exceptionally well.
Several more of the concrete panels near Denver Internationals’ maintenance hangar will require removal and replacing this year and in the future. As such, Eden Innovations expects to see further demand for application of its EdenCrete product moving forward.
The company also expects to see additional opportunities with other airports and airlines in the future.
Eden Innovations is down 3.23 per cent, trading at three cents per share at 1:16 pm AEST.
