Eden Innovations (EDE) has completed laboratory testing of its EdenCrete concrete mixture at the Port of Savannah.
The trial was announced on February 7 and gave Eden the opportunity to showcase its specialty mixture on a section of concrete that is subject to very heavy loading and abrasion from crane tyres.
In this trial, EdenCrete was added to the concrete mix at 1 US gallon per cubic yard (4.95 litres/ cubic metre) of concrete.
The average compressive strength achieved after the 28-day trial was 10,010-pound-force per square inch (psi) (68.95 megapascals/MPa). This result exceeded the required minimum strength of 5000 psi by 100 per cent.
Throughout the entire trial, EdenCrete provided highly encouraging strength. After just 28 hours of being poured, EdenCrete achieved 5720 psi (39.4 MPa) which exceeded the minimum strength of 4000 psi.
The review of the performance of EdenCrete is expected to be conducted over a three month period.
This trial has been a significant opportunity for Eden to promote its superior strength concrete mixture to a major upcoming project.
The Port of Savannah is reported to be the next busiest U.S. container port. The Georgia Port Authority is planning to increase the capacity of the port from its current 5.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) per year to 8 million TEUs by 2028.
Work will include expanding its ship-to-shore fleet from 30 to 42 cranes and increasing the RTG cranes from 146 to more than 210.
Eden Innovations is down a slight 3.33 per cent and shares are trading for 2.9 cents each at 11:18 am AEDT.
