Data and video solutions company Elsight (ELS) has received its first Halo order from French company Alrena Technologies.

These Halo units will be incorporated into a portable and light version of Alrena’s exisiting Smartmedicase, branded as Smartmedibag.

Halo is Elsight’s flagship secure data and video transfer platform that can connect to any computer, USB device or docking station to enable communication.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still impacting society and those in rural communities unable to make it to hospital due to long distances or limited cellular coverage, Alrena created a lighter version of its Smartmedicase.

The lighter version, Smartmedibag, enables independent nurses in remote areas to provide lifesaving treatment via telehealth to rural communities.

It consists of audio, visual and data connections in real-time to provide quick and accurate care.

To meet the demand of COVID-19 patients in rural communities, Alrena has placed a US$300,000 (around A$417,489) order for Halo units to be delivered between September and December 2020.

“We created the Smartmedibag to enable independent nurses all over France to provide health care remotely, dramatically decreasing both response time and the necessity of patients to travel to hospitals,” Founder and President of Alrena Richard Kletizke said.

“With Halo, we were able to improve connectivity and flexibility of the Smartmedibag, decrease 1.1 kilograms from the total weight of the bag and extend the battery life, while removing the need for a fan for special cooling due to Halo’s extremely low heat signature,” he added.

Elsight is up 10.5 per cent on the market and shares are trading for 68.5 cents each at 2:01 pm AEST.
