eMetals (EMT) has seen its shares skyrocket after recording “exceptional” high grade rock chips at its Beryl Well project in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia.

The company collected nine rock chip samples in November on both previously tested and untested pegmatites around the project area and towards possible northern extensions of a pegmatite swarm.

Assays from the samples returned highlights of 26.47 per cent niobium and 6.68 per cent tantalum, plus 23.79 per cent niobium and 6.33 per cent tantalum.

The company said the grades validate the work completed by previous tenure holders, who reported rock chip samples of 42.8 per cent niobium and 13.1 per cent tantalum.

Although the full extent of the niobium and tantalum-rich material is yet to be determined, eMetals believes it’s related to iron rich material confined to structural infill zones.

eMetals shares shot up 36.4 per cent, trading at 1.5 cents at 12:02 pm AEDT.
