Emyria (EMD) has entered a data deal with medicinal cannabis company Zelira Therapeutics (ZLD) to support an Autism trial.

The company has been selected to conduct an observational trial for patients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) being treated with Zelira’s Hope range of products. Hope products, Hope 1 and Hope 2, were developed to support the needs of patients with ASD.

The observation trial will be one of the largest medicinal cannabis studies ever undertaken with a specific range of products in ASD patients.

Data collected by Emyria will include efficacy and safety insights about Hope on ASD patients. Zelira will pay Emyria $115,000 over the trial’s first six months.

This announcement follows Zelira’s recent Hope product launch in Australia.

Emyria’s Managing Director, Dr Michael Winlo, is delighted to be working with Zelira.

“Partnering with clinically-focused companies, such as Zelira, further supports our model of generating high-quality patient data to accelerate the development of improved cannabis medicines for patients with unmet needs,” he told the market.

Emyria is a recognised global leader in the collection and translation of real-world patient data (RWD) and also owns and manages a national network of specialist medical clinics.

“We are excited to secure this agreement with Emyria to further augment our launch of Hope in Australia, particularly after the successful launch of these products in the U.S.,” Zelira’s Managing Director Richard Hopkins said.

“This focussed approach will generate very high-quality RWD that will complement our existing data-pack for Hope and inform our global marketing strategy in realtime. This information will also inform the design of possible future clinical trials, reduce the risks and costs of development and accelerate the path to regulatory approval,” he added.

On the market this afternoon, Emyria is up 14.1 per cent, trading for 8.1 cents per share, while Zelira is up 1.39 per cent, worth 7.3 cents per share at 2:22 pm AEDT.
