ASX 200-listed Evolution Mining (EVN) has struck fresh gold and copper mineralisation at the new Bert area within its Ernest Henry operation in Queensland.

The company said the new mineralisation area lay below and adjacent to the existing open pit at Ernest Henry.

The company’s recent drilling work at Bert returned assays such as a downhole width of 64 metres grading 0.76 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 1.39 per cent copper and 50 metres at 0.68 g/t gold and 1.12 per cent copper.

Evolution said the results also delineated a new gold-rich domain along the hanging wall of the Bert domain.

The company said the results reinforced the potential for a separate ore body to be developed near the main ore body in the area.

“The ongoing drilling success we continue to see at Ernest Henry highlights the exciting potential for growth at this world-class operation,” EVN CEO and Managing Director Lawrie Conway said.

“The significance of the recent drilling intercepts released today indicates that Bert, located adjacent to the open pit, is a sizable mineralisation domain that remains open down-plunge.”

Bert remains open down-plunge, and Evolution is planning an “aggressive” drilling program at the Bert area in the second half of 2023.

Evolution Mining was trading 1.32 per cent higher at $2.70 at 11:13 am AEDT.
