Minerals explorer Cobre (CBE) has clarified that exploration work at the Perrinvale Project is uninterrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The company’s small field crew will continue with exploration activities at the project around Lake Barlee in central Western Australia, while other consultants and staff will work remotely.

Cobre holds an 80 per cent interest in Toucan Gold, a tenement owner at the Perrinvale project.

Following recent drilling at the Zinco Lago, Schwabe and Monti prospects, diamond core processing has now been completed and final core samples have been delivered to the laboratory for testing.

In addition, Down Hole Electromagnetic Surveys (DHES) on the diamond core holes, as well as two other reverse circulation holes, have been completed.

Results from the DHES have been given to Dr Susan Belford, the company’s geophysics consultant, to assess along with previous ground and electromagnetic survey data.

Assay results from the diamond drilling program will be reported in conjunction with data from lithological logging and DHES to provide a more comprehensive overview of each prospect.

Cobre Executive Chairman and Managing Director, Martin Holland, said the company is pleased with exploration activities at Perrinvale.

“Notwithstanding the challenges that come with operating at a remote site in undertaking diamond drilling and processing core, I am pleased that the field team has now completed core processing, facilitated downhole EM surveys, and is setting up to continue field exploration across the project,” Martin remarked.

Shares in Cobre are trading 22.2 per cent higher for 11 cents apiece at 12:45 pm AEDT.
