Fin Resources (ASX:FIN) has discovered abundant spodumene crystals within an outcropping pegmatite body during the maiden fieldwork campaign at its Cancet West lithium project in Canada.

The field program covered nine designated target areas within the project. The team uncovered at least five outcropping pegmatite bodies with strike lengths ranging from 200 to 400 metres.

During the initial multi-day field visit, the Mercator geologist collected a total of 13 outcrop samples across the property areas. Selected samples were sent for analysis at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Mercator field team discovered in one particular pegmatite body, the presence of sizeable green spodumene crystals, measuring up to 30 centimetres in length. Additionally, trace amounts of lepidolite, coarse muscovite, tourmaline, blue-green beryl, coarse red garnets, and megacrystic feldspars were also identified within the outcrops.

“We are extremely excited to have confirmed spodumene within pegmatite outcrop at our Cancet West project,” Fin Director Jason Bontempo said.

“Following this initial spodumene discovery, the company is optimistic that additional lithium mineralisation will be discovered at Cancet West through further fieldwork, detailed sampling and drilling.

All samples have now been sent to ALS in Val D’Or Quebec to be assessed for sodium-peroxide borate fusion, with results in four to six weeks.

FIN is now in the process of planning additional work at Cancet West, the already discovered exposed pegmatite has prioritised the following-up fieldwork program.

The company remains confident with the prosperity of the area, aimed at identifying more drill-ready targets.

Additionally, the fieldwork has commenced at the Ross lithium project, where nine priority target areas will be the focus of the maiden fieldwork programme.

“We are now looking forward to the fieldwork beginning at our second high-priority project area shortly at Ross,” Mr Bontempo said.
