FirstWave Cloud Technology (FCT) has signed an agreement with Vodafone Idea to deliver FirstWave’s cyber security-as-a-service to its customers.

Vodafone Idea recently rebranded as Vi, is a partnership company between Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Group. Vi is India’s leading telecom service provider.

India is the world’s second largest telecommunication market with almost 1.2 billion telecom subscribers and over 500 million internet subscribers.

Importantly, Vi will be the first in India to offer FirstWave’s new firewall solution offering to its business customers. Vi will also offer the company’s cybersecurity email and web solutions to protect businesses from damaging cybercrime attacks.

This will allow small and medium businesses in India to be protected from unwanted cyber intruders gaining access to company data, for an affordable monthly fee.

“We are excited about this new partnership and the opportunities it brings for both FirstWave and Vi. With this new solution, all Indian businesses can now reap the unique benefits of a truly enterprise grade, best-in-class SaaS-based cybersecurity delivered through the Vi Network,” FirstWave Regional Head of BD and Sales Sundar Bharadwaj said.

Vi Executive Vice President for Products, Solutions and Partnerships Anil Philip is also pleased to be partnering with FirstWave.

“We are excited about this engagement with FirstWave. This partnership enables us to deliver cloud-based robust security to enterprise customers through this unique multi-tenanted platform,” Anil said.

Vi has recently completed customer trials of FirstWave’s remote worker cybersecurity offering for medium and large businesses. It will begin offering these services from next month.

Company shares are trading 10.3 per cent higher for 16 cents at 1:17 pm AEST.
