Fluence Corporation has obtained a $3 million contract to provide a lithium brine solution for an unnamed battery-grade lithium producer in Argentina.

This contract will demonstrate Fluence’s ion exchange technology which removes naturally-occurring contaminants from lithium brine.

The company expects the project will be completed before the end of 2020.

“We are pleased to continue to expand our solutions capabilities into large and growing industries such as lithium production,” Managing Director and CEO Henry Charrabé said.

Fluence is a leader in the decentralised water, wastewater and reuses treatment industries. Through its Smart Products Solutions, it offers a range of services to businesses and communities worldwide.

The company believes it stood out to the Argentinian client because it offered a unique custom engineered solution.

This solution maximises the removal of contaminants while minimising the removal of valuable lithium used to create the final product of battery-grade lithium carbonate.

This contract award marks Fluence’s fourth lithium project in Argentina in the last couple of years, making it fully prepared to deliver an optimal outcome.

“We expect our execution of this project will lead to future business opportunities in the lithium industry,” Henry said confidently.

Fluence’s shares remain flat today, with shares trading at 44.5 cents apiece as at 3:19 pm AEDT.
