Fluence Corporation (FLC) has sold its first smart wastewater treatment, the Aspiral System, to Three Gorges Group.

The company says the sale is strategic, as it’s the first step in a potential new partnership with the group.

Under the new partnership, Three Gorges will use Aspiral in Wuwei County, an important intersection of three major river crossings in the Anhui Province.

Fluence says Aspiral is valued at approximately US$70,000 (roughly A$109,000) and includes the company’s MABR technology, which is able to treat 30 cubic meters of wastewater per day.

The Yangtze River is the longest river in both China and Asia, and is also the third-longest river in the world, spanning a total 6300 kilometres.

Crucially, environmental remediation of the Yangtze is currently a main priority for the Chinese Government. As a result, Three Gorges was established in 2018 to improve the water quality at the major river.

In fact, China’s 13th five-year plan mandates the improvement of wastewater treatment in rural China and government funding has been allocated for this purpose.

Fluence CEO Henry Charrabé is pleased to be supporting environmental remediation in China.

“We are confident that the initial AspiralTM order will be a stepping-stone for Fluence to access other opportunities available in the Yangtze River Great Protection zone,” he said.

“It will also allow us to build a deeper relationship with the highly respected Three Gorges Group,” he added.

Fluence is up 11.32 per cent on the market this morning, selling shares for 30 cents each at 10:04 am AEST.
