- EPC contractor for stage one mobilises to site

Frontier Energy (ASX: FHE) reports mobilisation to site has commenced for the construction phase of stage one of the Waroona Renewable Energy project in Western Australia.

Stage one of the project comprises a 132MW solar facility, paired with an 81.5MW/6.9-hour battery energy storage system.
“After extensive pre-development work, mobilisation to site of our Owner’s Team and Monford, our EPC contractor, is a significant milestone for the Waroona project, with site works having now commenced,” executive chairman, Jamie Cullen, said.
“Monford has been an important partner throughout the pre-development of Waroona, and the strong working relationship established through the early contractor involvement process has provided a sound foundation for delivery.
“We look forward to providing regular updates through the construction phase as we progress towards delivering one of Western Australia’s most significant new renewable energy generation and battery storage projects.”
Stage one is fully funded and scheduled for first generation in 2028.
Frontier and Monford, the EPC contractor for stage one, have mobilised to site, marking the commencement of continuous and on-going work at the Waroona project over the next two years.
The mobilisation phase, which includes early works prior to the commencement of major construction works later in the year will involve several workstreams.
Major construction works will begin later this year and will include field piling for installation of the single access tracking system, which is scheduled to start in late 2026, before moving on to installation of the photovoltaic modules and construction of the solar facility balance of plant, which is scheduled to commence in early 2027.
With site works now under way, construction will be ongoing seven days a week. The number of personnel at site will increase progressively, peaking at approximately 200 people during 1H2027.
FHE was steady at 21.0¢ with a Mkt cap of $233.6M.
