- The review highlighted a rock sample of 432g/t gold in the Emaloun structure and rock chip samples valued up to 34.8g/t gold
- Soil assay results of 44g/t gold and 443g/t silver were found along with a trench assay result of 0.3 metres at 431.5g/t gold
- The company is now reviewing 1.7 kilometres of gold mineralised zones at Kimono and Kimono South
- This will be followed by a multi-phase exploration and drilling program
- Company shares are up 10 per cent and trading for 1.1 cents each
Frontier Resources (FNT) has completed an independent review of sampling and drilling results at the Mt.Sen prospect in Papua New Guinea.
The Mt.Sen prospect is situated 800 metres north and northeast of the Tolukuma Mining Lease ML 104 and within Frontier’s Tolukuma tenement EL2531.
Mt.Sen covers an area of roughly 3.5-by-three kilometres and is located north of the Auger River. The prospect was discovered when visible gold-bearing quartz was found in a north-northwest-trending shear zone.
Two north-northwest-trending mineralised structures have been identified at Tumbu and Emaloun. Tumbu is the northern extension of the Kimono structure located east of the Tolukuma mine. It is characterised by high arsenic similar to the Kimono and Saki veins.
The structures contain multiphase brecciation and silicification with gold values ranging up to 432g/t gold in the Emaloun structure. Other small veins and cross structures trending east-southeast have been identified.
Specifically, Frontier reviewed historical trench sampling, rock sampling soil sampling and drilling results.
Ridge and spur soil sampling
A total of 864 ridge-spur soil samples were collected at 25-metre spacings over the Emaloun and Tumbu areas.
The soil results defined 11 ridges that were considered to be geochemically anomalous, including the ridges that host the Emaloun and Tumbu structures.
A total of 20 samples had values of between 0.5 and 1g/t gold, with four samples being greater than 1g/t. Four silver samples were valued at more than eight parts per million (ppm) and antimony samples had values of over 50ppm which are considered anomalous.
Rock-chip sampling
A total of 332 rock chip and trench samples were collected, 47 of which had assay values greater than 1g/t gold. Out of these, eight had assay values of more than 10g/t gold.
The highest reported rock chip gold samples were 34.8, 33.9, 24.3, 19.4 and 17.5g/t gold. The results for silver and base metals are generally low to weakly anomalous.
Hand trenching and sampling
A total of eight hand trenches were dug at Tumbu and Emaloun. The best trench result was 0.3 metres at 431.5g/t gold from Trench 4 on the Emaloun structure. Other trench results include 46, 15.1, 9.92 and 7.37g/t gold at Emaloun and 7.62g/t gold at Tumbu.
Excluding Trench 7, all trenches intersected the targeted structures and most samples were anomalous.
Scout diamond drilling
Three scout diamond holes totalling 366.7 metres were drilled to test beneath high-grade gold assay results in trench samples at Emaloun.
The best intersections came from MSD-003 and include; 1.15 metres at 6.4g/t gold from 125.9 metres, including 0.63 metres at 7.89g/t gold and 0.1 metres at 14.9g/t gold in a quartz vein with visible gold.
Follow-up work
A detailed review of historical data is currently underway along 1.7 kilometres of gold mineralised zones at Kimono and Kimono South.
Once this is completed, Frontier will conduct a multi-phased exploration program of mapping, sampling and drilling at Kimono and a drilling program for a JORC resource at the Saki prospect.
