Frontier Resources (FNT) has received “exceptional” high-grade rare-earth results from rock chip assays at the Gascoyne Rare Earths project in Western Australia.

The company recently completed a field sampling program to explore targets within the Gifford Creek Carbonatite Complex.

A total of 134 rock chip samples were taken, with 31 returning results greater than one per cent total rare earth oxides (TREO). The best results were 8.01 per cent TREO and 6.44 per cent TREO.

Frontier said it planned to investigate a potential carbonatite association relating to mineralised phosphate and TREO results found at the Gascoyne project.

Meanwhile, rock chip assays from the Lyons project in the Gascoyne returned “outstanding” high-grade neodymium and praseodymium ratios, with TREO of up to 58.8 per cent.

Frontier has also completed a mineralogy study, which confirmed the presence of monazite mineralisation in ironstones. It will now complete metallurgical test work to determine the ability of the ironstones to produce a commercially treatable monazite concentrate.

The new ironstones increase the footprint of known rare earth element (REE) mineralisation to over 2.5 kilometres of strike length.

Technical Director Brian Thomas said the results validated the company’s early mover advantage in the Gascoyne region.

“We are now part of an emerging REE province with multiple new discoveries being made between Dreadnought Resources and ourselves, culminating in a very exciting time for our company and the region,” he said.

“The Lyons and Edmunds projects are still very under-explored, and with our rapidly evolving geological understanding, I’m looking forward to a busy exploration schedule throughout 2022.”

Looking ahead, Frontier now plans to take on additional rock chip sampling and drill programs to investigate other targets.

Shares in Frontier Resources were trading 23.1 per cent higher today at 3.2 cents each at 10:40 am AEDT.
