Successful flotation test work at Lyons Source: Frontier Resources

Frontier Resources (FNT) has dubbed its recent results from the Lyons Rare Earths Project in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia as “positive.”

Results from metallurgical floatation test work carried out on outcropping ironstones at the project were said to have performed well, with an initial flotation circuit using bulk surface samples achieving a recovery of 96.7 per cent neodymium oxide at 13.9 per cent grade in concentrate.

This calculated to an average recovery of 92 per cent total rare earth oxides at 38 per cent grade in final concentrate.

The initial metallurgical test work was undertaken to determine the amenability of the ironstones to produce a commercially treatable monazite concentrate.

“These results provide further encouragement as we prepare for our maiden drill program,” Technical Director Brian Thomas said.

Further bulk samples across the project will now be undertaken to better reflect potential concentrator feed.

This will be followed by heritage surveys, which have been booked in from the end of May until June 6 to allow site works to begin for a maiden drilling program.

The company noted that although there were delays in organising the heritage surveys, Frontier has been proactive and pragmatic in ensuring the heritage surveys are done as soon as possible.

The company anticipates drilling will commence in July pending the final heritage survey approvals.

Frontier Resources last traded at 2.8 cents on May 10.
