Galan Lithium (GLN) has completed the preliminary predictive model for brine concentration through an evaporation ponds system at the HMW Project.

The HMW Project is located in Salar del Hombre Muerto, which contains a world-renowned cluster of lithium projects. Galan believes HMW has the potential to be a world-class lithium brines project.

Pond modelling results have shown that a concentrate with up to a 4.8 per cent lithium or, 25.6 per cent lithium carbonate equivalent, can be obtained including high lithium recovery and low impurities.

Overall, the brine quality shows it can be “more than competitive” for the potential production of battery-grade lithium carbonate.

The brines data was modelled using The HMW Project’s chemical database from its indicated mineral resource of 1.37 million tonnes lithium carbonate equivalent which was announced in June this year.

“Importantly, due to the project’s high grade/low impurity settings, Galan’s HMW project ranks very favourably amongst new developing lithium brine projects in the world-renowned lithium triangle,” Managing Director JP Vargas de la Vega said.

Galan’s site team has recently collected brine samples from the project and they will now be transported to a world-renowned lab to solidify the results predicted by the evaporation ponds modelling at HMW.

A process design and pond layout are set to be completed during October and the preliminary economic assessment and scoping study remains on track with results expected in the final quarter of the year.

Company shares remain flat at 15.5 cents just before midday trade.
