Gateway Mining (GML) has begun its 2021 exploration program at its Gidgee Gold Project in Western Australia.

Field crews are mobilising to site and drilling is set to begin in the upcoming days.

More than 35,000 metres of reverse circulation (RC), aircore and diamond drilling will be undertaken with initial focus following-up on mineralisation outlined in the Northwest Margin.

Mineralisation in this area measures a length of 220 metres and remains open to the north and south.

RC drilling will also test the extents of the Lower Zone as well as extend coverage south of the Montague-Boulder open pit towards the Caledonian Northeast pit.

Once completed, diamond drilling will be undertaken to test the depth potential of the Lower Zone and provide critical geological information.

Finally, an aircore rig will mobilise to site once RC and diamond drilling wraps up to test additional geochemical anomalies.

“We’re really excited to have our teams back in the field with RC drilling expected to be underway again next week,” Managing Director Mark Cossom commented.

“The initial focus will be a significant follow-up program at the exciting new high-grade Northwest Margin discovery. Further success could be a real game-changer for Gateway, so we are really looking forward to seeing what the next round of drilling can deliver,” he added.

Gateway has also received the final three assay results from an RC drilling program completed at the Achilles South Prospect.

These three holes were drilled to provide a test of the effectiveness of aircore drilling previously undertaken in the area.

A best result of seven metres at 1.6g/t gold from 50 metres was intersected, confirming the presence of significant primary gold mineralisation within sheared granodiorite.

Further drilling will be undertaken to continue targeting bedrock gold mineralisation.

“This result is significant because it shows that the large areas of well-defined anomalism across the Gidgee Project are likely to host deeper primary mineralisation,” Mark said.

“This is a very positive sign for the longer-term potential of the project and once again highlights just how underexplored the Gidgee Project is,” he concluded.

Gateway is steady on the market and shares are trading at 3.3 cents at 12:13 pm AEDT.
