Global Health’s (GLH) shares have soared over 52 per cent on the back of a partnership with Asthma Australia for its Lifecard consumer health platform.

Currently, nearly three million Australians live with asthma which costs the health care industry $28 billion each year. Almost half of these asthma sufferers can’t control their condition with triggers such as air pollution and changes in weather.

Asthma Australia aims to half asthma hospitalisations by 2030.

The Lifecard platform connects consumers with their care teams – giving them the opportunity to better comply with prescribed care plans.

Lifecard is integrated with Global Health’s secure messaging platform, ReferralNet, which allows subscribers to receive health and medical information directly to their Lifecard personal health record.

GLH is also planning to integrate asthma-related data from wearables to the Lifecard phone app.

“We often hear that people with asthma get rather exhausted retelling their health history, which can be complex and traumatic, and that doctors appreciate the opportunity to assess a health record,” Asthma Australia CEO Michele Goldman said.

“We see this partnership as a great opportunity for people with asthma to embrace a health tool, and another step toward individualised, person-centred health care,” Michele added.

The company has begun to integrate Lifecard with wearable and remote monitoring devices. The additional data will hopefully facilitate a real-time view of a consumer’s health within their Lifecard record. This will enable health care workers to make more informed decisions regarding their health.

“We are looking forward to the year ahead and what we can achieve together with Asthma Australia,” Global Health Managing Director Mathew Cherian said.

Global Health’s shares have soared 52.2 per cent to trade for 35 cents at 3:08 pm AEDT.
