Golden Deeps (GED) is preparing for an upcoming drilling program at its Khusib Springs copper deposit in Namibia.

Drilling contractors Ferrodrill Naminia will be undertaking the program, which is expected to commence in April.

The drilling program will drill around 18 reverse circulation holes for 750 metres to target high-grade copper-silver mineralisation in the upper part of the deposit.

However, the drilling will need approval from landowners, following an unexpectedly heavy wet season in the region, which has impacted access tracks.

Khusib Springs is located near the town of Grootfontein and was mined from 1996 to 2003. During that time, the high-grade copper-silver mine produced around 300,000 tonnes of ore but ultimately closed due to the very low copper prices at the time.

Late last year, Golden Deeps engaged South Africa-based geological consultancy Shango Solutions to undertake a study on Khusib Springs, which would validate the historic drilling data and digitally capture hardcopy mine plans.

On the market this afternoon, Golden Deeps is up 10 per cent and is trading at 1.1 cents per share at 2:45 pm AEDT.
