Boab Metals (BML) has announced the commencement of front-end engineering and design (FEED) work at its Sorby Hills project in the Kimberly Region of Western Australia.

The company has struck an engineering services agreement with GR Engineering Services (GRES), which will carry out the FEED work for the process plant and associated infrastructure at the lead-silver-zinc project.

“With the Sorby Hills DFS now complete, we are delighted to advance to the next stage of project engineering and design,” Boab Managing Director and CEO Simon Noon said.

“We look forward to working closely with GRES through this important phase of project development to finalise process plant design and identify optimisation opportunities ahead of executing an EPC contract at FID.”

As part of the ESA, GRES outlined that long lead procurement and offsite fabrication would begin following the EPC award and a final investment decision (FID) for the project in Q3 2023.

Also, the company said the mobilisation of the process plant construction team to the site would take place in April 2024.

Process plant commissioning and the first concentrate are expected in early 2025.

Shares in BML were up 2.5 per cent and trading at 20.5 cents at 11:27 am AEDT.
