Greenwing Resources (GW1) has successfully extended the Mahala Zone at its Graphmada Mining Complex through additional auger drilling .
Located in Madagascar, GW1 recently completed 180 auger drill holes at the site with each hole drilled to an average depth of 12 metres from surface.
The company said the results from the additional holes have extended the known graphite mineralisation to the east and pushed the entire Mahala zone to 450 metres in width.
Additionally, the results confirmed two graphite zones over 500-metre strike lengths at the newly discovered South Mahela zone, which remains open ended to the south and north.
Best intercepts include 4 metres at 8.1 per cent fixed carbon, with GWI noting the results showed the graphite mineralisation footprint at Graphmada is extensive, in both depth and width.
Executive Director Peter Wright said the drilling will help Greenwing upgrade the existing large flake Mineral Resource of 20.2 million tonnes at 4 per cent Total Graphitic Carbon and restart mining at the site.
“At the Graphmada Mining Complex, the company has a Mineral Resource able to
produce saleable graphite concentrates across all market segments,” Mr Wright said.
“The expansion of this Mineral Resource is key to the company’s plans for large-scale production of up to 40,000 tonnes per annum.
“The team continues to explore and develop the Mineral Resource and are now preparing for an extensive diamond drilling program to add further value for our highly valued shareholders.”
GW1 is planning to carry out a further 3000 metre diamond drilling program at Graphmada later this month, targeting the Mahela and Ambatofafana zones.
Shares in Greenwing Resources were trading up 2.56 per cent at 40 cents each at the close of market on Wednesday.
