GWR Group’s (GWR) second shipment of iron ore from its C4 Iron Ore deposit in Wiluna has successfully departed on cargo ship MV Marinicki.

The second shipment of iron ore has departed the Port of Geraldton, with the cargo ship, MV Marinicki, setting sale on March 24.

MV Marinicki was loaded with 55,100 wet metric tonnes of ore for delivery to off-take partner Pacific Minerals.

GWR has also booked a third vessel, which is expected to depart with a cargo of premium high-grade lump and fines around April 19.

Notably, the company expects to add more trucks to its haulage operations this week to increase transportation of the crushed ore stocks from C4 to the port.

Mining contractor Pilbara Resources Group (PRG) has been chosen for stage one of the C4 mining operations, which covers the first one million tonnes of C4’s mineral resources estimate of 21.6 million tonnes at 60.7 per cent iron.

“I am pleased to report the successful departure of our second shipment of ore from the Port of Geraldton and delighted to advise that as a result of the improved capacity in haulage operations we are moving towards more significant production levels,” Chairman Gary Lyons said.

“Our third cargo ship is expected to be loaded with ore and depart on or around 19th April 2021, approximately 22 days from the second shipment and we are targeting to reduce this time between shipments even further as we add more trucks to our haulage fleet,” he added.

GWR is up 5.88 per cent on the market today, trading at 27 cents per share at 12:07 pm AEDT.
