Haranga Resources (HAR) has confirmed uranium mineralisation at its Saraya uranium project in Senegal, West Africa.

A total of 1361 termite mound samples were collected on a 50 metre by 50 metre sampling grid over the known uranium mineralisation.

Samples were collected from deeply rooted termite mounds with aims to detect bedrock derived uranium anomalies in the deeper portion of the saprolite.

The survey yielded anomalous uranium concentrations grading between seven and 41 parts per million, confirming surface sampling can detect uranium mineralisation in the bedrock.

The survey also detected a depletion of potassium, rubidium and strontium in the termite mounds, further supporting that the termite mound sampling method can detect geochemical patterns in the bedrock.

These results are encouraging as historical geochemical surveys did not sample the termite mounds and were inconclusive in areas where saprolite cover masks any potential uranium mineralisation.

Haranga will now undertake a 2000-metre aircore drilling program in Q2 to obtain samples of the mineralised episyenite rock.

The results from this program will further add to the understanding of the relationship between the mineralised rock and overlying saprolite as well as determine the regional termite mound sampling program planned for Q2.

Haranga is also in the process of negotiating the acquisition of historical exploration data including the drilling database.

“It is pleasing to see these early results from Saraya and in particular to prove that the termite mound sampling method is a low-cost, quick and highly efficient means of detecting sub-surface mineralisation,” Chairman Peter Youd said.

“We are also excited to see the presence of other critical minerals in the samples collected and the company will be investigating this alongside our ongoing uranium exploration program.”

Haranga has ended the day 2.13 per cent in the red with shares trading at 23 cents.
