Holista Colltech’s (HCT) subsidiary, Holista Biotech, has received its first commercial order from Country Farms for its food ingredients.

Country Farms is part of the Malaysian conglomerate, Berjaya Corporation Berhad, and has placed a $43,000 order for Holista’s low glycaemic index (GI) food ingredient GI Lite, and sugar reduction substitute, 80Less.

A longer-term sales contract is currently being negotiated to support Country Farms’ initiative to offer Holista’s products in Country Farms’ food catalogue.

This catalogue goes out to around 4000 trade customers, supermarkets and dealers in Malaysia such as Lotus’s, Aeon, Jaya Grocer and Cold Storage.

The contract will also fulfil ongoing demand from Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Malaysia which has decided to offer its customers croissants made with Holista’s ingredients.

On the back of successful trials of the croissants, Country Farms and Holista are now co-developing low GI white sandwich bread and ciabatta for Starbucks Malaysia.

Furthermore, to cater for vegan customers, Holista and Country Farms are working together to develop plant-based tuna, eggs and milk.

These products are currently undergoing sensory testing and the companies are working to bring them to market.

Holista Colltech was up 2.56 per cent on the market with shares trading at four cents at 12:29 pm AEST.
