Imugene (IMU) has dosed the first patient in its nextHERIZON phase two clinical trial.

The trial will investigate its HER-Vaxx candidate in combination with chemotherapy or pembrolizumab in patients with Her-2+ gastric cancer.

The company’s primary goal of the study is to measure safety and response rate, but it is also hoping to evaluate duration of response, progression free survival, overall survival, and biomarker evaluation.

The first patient was dosed at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, with the company planning to open additional study sites across Australia and in the US.

“With the promising results we’ve seen from HER-Vaxx thus far, we’re particularly eager to take the next step in its development with this trial and ideally improve outcomes for patients with this difficult to treat cancer,” Managing Director and CEO Leslie Chong said.

Shares in the company were up 5.68 per cent to trade at 23.3 cents each at 10:38 am AEST.
