Chariot Resources (ASX:CC9) has received independent quantitative mineralogical results that have confirmed spodumene in all verification samples from its Fonlo and Iganna projects in southwest Nigeria, validating the interpretation of the assets as lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite systems.

The study, run by the University of British Columbia, identified spodumene abundances ranging from 28.4 wt% to 75.3 wt% in six previously disclosed samples.

Three samples returned from Chariot’s Fonlo project had recorded spodumene concentrations between 34.1 wt% and 53.1 wt% in testing, with quartz and plagioclase identified as the primary gangue minerals.

Iganna’s samples demonstrated higher mineralogical complexity, especially two standouts Chariot highlighted: These two, 1069099 and 1069100, were found to be spodumene-dominant, containing 67.8 wt% and 75.3 wt%, respectively.

They also confirmed the presence of pollucite (a high-value caesium mineral) at 9.5 wt% and 4.4 wt%, providing a mineralogical explanation for the elevated caesium signatures previously detected in geochemical assays.

“These results support Chariot’s interpretation that Fonlo and Iganna host prospective lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatite systems, while preserving the need for systematic metallurgical, geological, and drilling work to assess continuity of mineralisation, recoveries, and scale,” the company wrote today.

On top of that, Chariot said, it gives the company “a clearer basis for follow-up metallurgical testwork and [explains] the elevated caesium values that key Iganna samples previously returned by identifying pollucite.”

The explorer now intends to integrate these “critical” mineralogical data points into the design of Fonlo and Iganna’s next metallurgical testwork.

Chariot plans to integrate the mineralogy and field mapping already banked to refine geological targeting, which will then funnel into advanced drill planning and surface exploration at both Nigerian projects.

Beyond that, the Western Australian-based company will also be evaluating a three-phase small-scale mining pathway, which will include localised resource definition and toll processing evaluations. (And that will still come second to determining the ultimate scale and continuity of mineralisation.)

Early on Thursday, CC9 shares have been selling at 8c each.
