The drilling represents the first diamond holes ever completed at Otniel, with the initial core providing the company with an early look at the mineralised system beneath the prospect.

The company is continuing drilling at Otniel, with the rig then expected to move to the high-priority Donkey Hill target. The completion of the first two holes at Otniel marks an important step in Kaoko’s exploration campaign.

Both holes intersected broad zones of visible copper mineralisation, giving the company its first subsurface information from diamond drilling at the prospect.

Kaoko is also considering bringing in a second diamond rig, which could allow the company to accelerate its exploration program and test multiple targets.

The coming months are therefore set to be an active period for the company, with investors watching for the first assay results from Otniel, continued drilling and the transition of the rig to Donkey Hill.

In this interview with HotCopper, Kaoko Metals managing director Gerard O’Donovan discusses the early drilling results, what the company will be looking for in the upcoming assays and the broader exploration program planned across Chalkos.
