CEO of AngloGold Ashanti (AGG) Kelvin Dushnisky will be stepping down from his role, effective September 1.

He was appointed CEO and Executive Director of the company on September 1 2018 and prior to that he was previously President and Director of Barrick Gold Corporation.

“I would like to thank Kelvin for his role in advancing our strategy, and wish him the very best for the future,” Chairman, Sipho Pityana said.

“AngloGold Ashanti is well positioned to further improve returns for shareholders, through improved operational performance and our rigorous approach to capital allocation,” Sipho said.

Kelvin will be leaving AngloGold Ashanti with robust cash flows to aid in ongoing debt reduction.

“I’ve enjoyed the challenge of leading AngloGold Ashanti over these past two years, during which time we’ve made tremendous progress on many fronts, from safety, to effective capital deployment and streamlining the asset base, all while continuing to deliver strong returns,” Kelvin said.

“I’d like to thank my executive team and employees across the business for their hard work and dedication, and the board for its support,” he said.

While a comprehensive search is undertaken, current Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Christine Ramon has been appointed interim CEO.

In return, current Senior Vice President: Group Finance, Ian Kramer will assume the role of interim CFO.

AngloGold Ashanti has ended the day a slight 0.59 per cent in the red with shares trading for $10.15 each in a $23.27 billion market cap.
