Kingwest Resources (KWR) has seen some positive results from its first nickel sulphide exploration program at its Lake Goongarrie project near Kalgoorlie, WA.

Earlier this year, the company commenced drilling at the project and has completed a total of 223 aircore holes with assays now been received.

These assays, along with historic drilling work, have identified two strike extensive zones of nickel anomalous ultramafic.

The northern nickel zone is 2600 metres long and 100 metres wide, with peak values of 8 metres at 0.5 per cent nickel from 4 metres. The southern nickel zone is 1700 metres long and 100 metres wide, with peak values of 4 metres at 0.4 per cent nickel from 20 metres.

Kingwest said its Highway ultramafic package has been confirmed to be continuous over its entire 11-kilometre strike length. It was found to have an average width of around 500 metres, which is nearly double the width originally interpreted.

CEO Ed Turner said he was pleased with the results of the first nickel sulphide drilling program at Lake Goongarrie.

“They have confirmed the nickel fertility of the 11 kilometres of the Highway ultramafic within our tenements, have significantly extended the width of our prospective ultramafic package, and crucially, have successfully identified two high calibre shallow nickel sulphide exploration targets,” Mr Turner said.

The company is planning to undertake moving loop electromagnetic surveys over the northern and southern nickel targets. This will identify any underlying nickel sulphide conductors in these areas.

Additionally, diamond core drilling at the Sir Laurence gold discovery is in progress with 645.8 metres of the 4000-metre inaugural program completed.

The program experienced delays due to mechanical programs and challenging ground conditions. With modifications to the drill rig now completed, drilling is expected to end by the end of July.

Kingwest has also announced its Non-Executive Director Adrian Byass resigned on May 2, 2022.

Kingwest Resources was up 12.5 per cent and trading at 18 cents per share at 10:38 am AEST.
