Kingwest Resources (KWR) has commenced a major drilling program at the Menzies Gold Project in Western Australia.

The 8300 metre drilling program will comprise a total of 3600 metres of reverse circulation (RC) drilling and 4700 metres of diamond core drilling.

This will focus on infill and extensions to high-grade mineralisation within the Yunndaga, Lady Shenton and First Hit systems. These systems each extend over lengths between 1200 and 1800 metres and lie within the Menzies Mineralised Corridor.

Each of the systems include multiple shear zones that host high-grade gold deposits.

Lady Shenton, in particular, has proven to host high-grade gold mineralisation during a drilling program conducted early last month.

In this program, results of 22 metres at 49.5g/t gold from 18 channel samples, and 45 metres at 22.3g/t gold from 37 channel samples were uncovered.

On February 20, Kingwest raised $3.5 million to fund drilling at Menzies to follow up on high-grade gold discovered in five major prospects last year.

Some of the RC drilling will be used as pre-collars for the diamond core tails and will therefore be drilled as a priority. Diamond core drilling will then follow later this month.

Depending on the results from these programs, the company will plan follow-up resource definition drilling at the targets.

Kingwest Resources is up 7.14 per cent and shares are trading at 15 cents each at market close.
