Lanthanein Resources (LNR) has completed a maiden aircore drilling program at the Koolya kaolin and high purity alumina (HPA) project in Western Australia.

The first pass, wide-spaced program included 599 metres of drilling and covered 15 kilometres of prospective kaolin-rich granite, reportedly intersecting widespread kaolin.

Initial visual results included a highlight of 30 metres of thick, bright white kaolin from a four-metre depth.

“Our first pass aircore drilling has returned exceptional visual results highlighting a significant areal extent of high-quality bright white kaolin at our Koolya project,” Technical Director Brian Thomas said.

The company said high-purity kaolin is becoming more and more important as a critical mineral due to the processing into HPA, which is used for lithium-ion batteries, LED lights, semiconductors and sapphire glass.

“Exploring for critical minerals and rare earths is of paramount importance for our company as we aim to find the future facing minerals used in the global clean energy transition,” Mr Thomas added.

Lanthanein Resources has sent off the samples for analysis and expects to receive results in the first quarter of next year. Following this, it will conduct further drilling to deliver a mineral resource estimate in the second half of 2023.

LNR shares were up 3.23 per cent to trade at 3.2 cents at 1:41 pm AEDT.
