Lark Distilling (LRK) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Geoff Bainbridge has resigned from the company due to personal reasons.

The Tasmanian whisky producer said it was informed of Mr Bainbridge’s personal matter and subsequent resignation yesterday and has appointed current Non-Executive Director Laura McBain as interim Managing Director from today.

Ms McBain has held previous executive roles. Between 2014 and 2017 she was the CEO and Managing Director of Bellamys Australia, prior to which she had been CEO and General Manager of the company since 2007.

In this role, Lark said Ms McBain oversaw significant change, innovation and business growth including expansion into South-East Asia and China.

She was also Managing Director of Maggie Beer Holdings until 2019 and also served as a Non-Executive Director of Export Finance Australia from 2014 to 2020.

As part of the Lark’s CEO succession planning, a global CEO search was already under way and will now be accelerated and led by Ms McBain and the board.

LRK shares were down 18.7 per cent to $3.70 at 11:58 am AEDT.
