Latin Resources (LRS) has begun aircore drilling at its Noombenberry Project near Merredin, Western Australia.

Between 2500 and 3000 metres of shallow aircore drilling will be conducted to confirm the extents of existing kaolinite and halloysite.

The occurrence of kaolinite and halloysite was identified in previous sampling work where results confirmed up to 38.9 per cent kaolinite and 15 per cent halloysite.

Latin will also conduct a second phase of offset infill drilling which will focus on thicker zones of kaolinite development. Any unfinished areas of infill drilling will be completed early next year.

“Drilling is progressing very well, with geological logging identifying good intersections of white kaolinitic clays in the early drilling,” Executive Director Chris Gale said.

“We are fully funded to advance the Noombenberry Project at a time where there is strong and broad global demand for high-quality kaolin products,” Chris said.

Kaolin is used in the ceramics and pottery industry. It’s also critical for making paper and as an ingredient in various medications.

Drilling will continue until December 20, after which the crew will demobilise over the Christmas break.

Composite samples from this drilling will be sent to labs based in Perth and Adelaide where they will undergo detailed test work. Results from the test work are expected in January next year.

Latin shares are in the grey trading at 3.1 cents at 11:22 am AEDT.
