LBT Innovations (LBT) has appointed Thermo Fisher Scientific as its exclusive distributor for the APAS Independence product in Europe.

Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Clever Culture Systems (CCS), LBT has expanded its existing distribution agreement for the APAS Independence product to include countries within both Western and Eastern Europe. Its reach now covers 35 countries globally.

The Automated Plate Assessment System, dubbed the APAS Independence, is an automated culture plate reading instrument that screens and sorts plates at a rate of 200 plates per hour.

The new agreement includes sales and marketing activities, including installation, maintenance, and support services to customers in Europe.

CCS said it expected the distribution agreement to improve the existing commercial go-to-market operations for APAS in the region.

The company previously worked with Beckman Coulter as its European marketing agent since July 2020.

Under this arrangement, Beckman Coulter provided marketing services to promote the APAS Independence in Germany, the United Kingdom and France.

All active sales opportunities are still owned by CCS and will now be transferred to Thermo Fisher as part of the transition.

As a result of the change, CCS and Beckman Coulter have agreed to terminate the existing European marketing agent agreement.

“Our experience in the United States has shown the benefit of having a full distribution partner with the brand reputation and sales reach of Thermo Fisher,” LBT CEO and Managing Director Brent Barnes said.

“We have learnt from our first year working together, and this established relationship is expected to accelerate our commercial success with customers in Europe.”

CCS’ European-based sales executive will provide on-the-ground support for APAS Independence, with the product launch slated for the first quarter of 2023

LBT Innovations shares were trading at five cents at 11:26 am AEDT.
