Lefroy Exploration (LEX) has begun reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Burns copper-gold prospect in Western Australia.

The Burns prospect is part of the Eastern Lefroy Project which covers an area of 266 square kilometres and is located 50 kilometres southeast of Kalgoorlie.

It lies within the well-endowed Kalgoorlie Terrane and is surrounded by the Boulder Lefroy and Mount Monger Faults.

The drilling will be carried out in stages with stage one to focus on land-based targets using an RC drill and stage two requiring a specialised aircore rig to evaluate targets at Lake Randall.

Stage one drilling is already underway with 20 holes planned to evaluate multiple targets over the 3000-metre Burns corridor.

A total of 13 RC holes will target new magnetic anomalies, four will evaluate extensions to the western basalt, two will evaluate a magnetic anomaly surrounding the Burns Intrusion while one will evaluate the centre of the Burns Intrusion.

Work is estimated to take three weeks to complete with initial results expected in December.

Stage two drilling will evaluate the Lovejoy and Kenny’s Dream magnetic anomalies at Lake Randall.

Drilling requires a specialised aircore drill rig with work scheduled to begin in November.

Managing Director Wade Johnson is excited to be back drilling at Burns.

“We are excited to be back out RC drilling at Burns evaluating multiple magnetic targets that share characteristics to the established Burns copper-gold system,” Mr Johnson commented.

“This is the first stage of a larger program that will involve lake drilling to demonstrate the scale of the intrusion related system and its related mineralisation over a 3000-metre corridor and extending out into Lake Randall.”

Lefroy has ended the day 5.41 per cent in the green with shares trading at 39 cents in a $44.48 million market cap.
