Legacy Minerals (LGM) has begun diamond drilling at its Bauloora project in New South Wales.

Nine drill holes are planned at the Mee Mar trend to follow up rock chip and soil sample results that indicate an extensive strike of over two kilometres, with grades of up to 55.5 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 904g/t silver and 1,810 parts per million (ppm) antimony.

This round of work marks the first diamond drilling to be undertaken at the project, and will test historical reverse circulation (RC) percussion intercepts that returned a best result of three metres at 5.8g/t gold equivalent from 69 metres downhole.

The company said it had determined that the most compelling geochemical and geophysical targets were not tested by the historical RC drilling.

Legacy hopes the diamond drilling will provide information on the controls and characteristics of the gold-silver mineralisation, as well as orientation measurements of structures such as veins, faults and lithological contacts.

Managing Director Christopher Byrne said several plans were in place to ensure drilling was completed in a timely manner, including securing a tracked drill rig that will help enable all weather access to drill sites.

The start of drilling follows the award of two grants to the company, under the New South Wales State Government’s New Frontiers Exploration Program, to support a first-ever drilling program at the Breccia Sinter prospect within Bauloora.

Drilling here is scheduled to begin in the June quarter, once drilling wraps up at Mee Mar.

Company shares were down 10.8 per cent trading at 16.5 cents at 12:51 pm AEDT.
