Legend Mining (LEG) has begun its 2021 drilling program at the Mawson prospect in Western Australia.

Mawson lies within the Rockford project, which is situated in the highly prospective Fraser Range district.

It covers 3088 square kilometres and exploration is primarily focused on magmatic nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation and volcanogenic massive sulphides.

Legend has completed drill site preparations at Mawson and the first rig has arrived on-site and to kick off exploration. A second rig is expected to arrive on-site next week.

In January, Legend received the best results to date from hole RKDD034 at Mawson, with grades peaking at 3.26 per cent nickel, 3.84 per cent copper and 0.17 per cent cobalt.

The company believes the high-grade nature of these results represents a down-plunge extension of significant nickel, copper and sulphide mineralisation.

In April, Legend will undertake regional electromagnetic and aircore drilling across the highly prospective Rockford targets.

Additionally, aircore drilling is scheduled to begin at the Crean nickel-copper prospect once statutory approvals have been granted.

Legend is up an even 4 per cent on the market this morning, trading at 13 cents at 10:34 am AEDT.
