Legend Mining (LEG) has hit two new intercepts of massive nickel-copper sulphide at the Mawson prospect in Western Australia.

The prospect is located within the Rockford project in the Fraser Range.

A step-out diamond drilling program has been underway since early March with a total of 11 drillholes completed so far and one in progress.

The latest results show that drillhole RKDD043 intersects a total mineralised zone of over 180 metres in thickness.

The mineralisation intersected includes disseminated, blebby, heavy disseminated, brecciated, nettexture, semi-massive and massive magmatic nickel-copper sulphide.

Specifically, the drillhole intersected 2.45 metres of semi-massive and massive sulphide as well as 10.4 metres of net-textured and semi-massive sulphide

However, the company notes the textures of the sulphides across the zones indicate remobilisation of sulphide, suggesting the drillhole has not intersected the primary sulphide source.

Over at RKDD044, an intersection of semi-massive and massive-sulphide northeast of the discovery zone includes 1.15 metres of massive sulphide and 3.75 metres of net-textured and semi-massive sulphide.

The drill traverse of RKDD044 is set to be extended east, west, and north with planned diamond drilling.

In conjunction, both drillholes gave the first visual confirmation that the Mawson intrusion could host multiple accumulations of massive nickel-copper sulphide.

Legend Managing Director Mark Wilson commented on the results.

“The distance between these holes and the discovery zone, along with the developing story from downhole EM (electromagnetic) surveys, continue to demonstrate a very large system driving Mawson, which is consistent with the potential of a significant deposit.”

In regard to the downhole EM surveys, down-hole transient electromagnetic surveying (DHTEM) has been completed on RKDD043, identifying conductors in and off hole, interpreted to be extensions of the mineralisation encountered in-hole.

Moving forward, diamond drilling continues, and all completed holes will undergo DHTEM to assist follow up drilling.
