Legend Mining (LEG) has released results from its recent detailed gravity survey at the Mawson prospect within the Rockford Project in Western Australia.

The survey was aimed at providing high-resolution data to better define the main 4mgal (milligal) gravity high. The results will also be used with aircore drilling to assist deep drill targeting.

The gravity survey has identified three discrete high gravity anomalies within a larger three-kilometre long feature.

“The size, strength and location of these gravity highs between the two geochem anomalies makes this a very exciting feature of the Mawson story,” Managing Director Mark Wilson said.

The main southern gravity high has a north-south trend and lies 300 metres east of the nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation intersected in diamond drilling.

On the other hand, the two other gravity highs trend northeast-southwest and lie 650 and 1100 metres respectively northeast of the mineralisation.

2D gravity modelling of the three gravity highs indicates densities associated with mafic and ultramafic lithologies, and represent favourable nickel-copper host rocks.

Recent and historic air core drilling at Mawson has defined two nickel-copper anomalies which straddle the gravity highs. While the western anomaly relates to the nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation, the larger 1100-metre by 200-metre eastern anomaly lies on the eastern and southeastern margin of the main gravity trend.

Significantly, all air core holes intersected mafic or ultramafic intrusives in bottom-of-hole samples. Air core holes over the gravity highs intersected metasediments or granulite and returned no anomalous nickel-copper results.

Next up, Legend will conduct a reverse circulation drilling program to test a combination of gravity and aircore geochemical targets.

Other future programs in the works include diamond drilling at two Mawson conductors, completing the 200-metre by 200-metre air core drilling program, as well as ongoing surveys.

Company shares are up a slight 3.57 per cent and are trading for 14.5 cents each at 11:34 am AEST.
