Legend Mining (LEG) has found more significant nickel-copper assay results from its third diamond drill hole at Mawson.

The drill hole intersected significant nickel-copper-cobalt mineralisation.

Diamond drill hole RKDD007 returned intersections of 14.9 metres at 1.07 per cent nickel, 0.75 per cent copper, 0.06 per cent cobalt from 114 metres, including 2.1 metres at 2.03 per cent nickel, 1.34 per cent copper, 0.11 per cent cobalt from 115.5 metres.

RKDD007 was designed to test beneath anomalous nickel-copper geochemistry associated with pyrrhotite-chalcopyrite-pentlandite, which was intersected in previous aircore drillholes RKAC183 and RKAC225.

Managing Director Mark Wilson says the discovery at Mawson is an outstanding exploration success.

“The 2.1-metre high-grade intercept within a 14.9-metre sulphide zone is within a 70 metres disseminated sulphide halo and has all the hallmarks of a large mineralised system,” Mark said.

“Mawson lies within a 16km x 6km mag feature within a distinctly different stratigraphic package of rocks from the other known Fraser Range occurrences of massive sulphides at Nova, Silver Knight and Octagonal,” he added.

Mawson is located in the Rockford Project at the Fraser Range district in Western Australia.

Legend will undertake structural logging of RKDD007 to assist further drillhole targeting. A diamond drilling follow-up will be aimed at defining the extent of nickel-copper mineralisation

Legend Mining is up 107 per cent on the market this morning, trading at 8.57¢ apiece at 10:37 am AEDT.
