Lindian Resources (LIN) has identified a maiden resource for the Bouba Plateaux at its Gaoual Bauxite Project in Guinea.

The total JORC compliant resource stands at 102 million tonnes at 49.8 per cent aluminium oxide and includes high-grade areas with 84 million tonnes at 51.2 per cent aluminium oxide.

It lies at surface, is readily mineable, and contains a high alumina grade.

This resource was estimated by Cube Consulting and was based on 874 metres of drilling from 131 shallow holes.

Additional digestion test work has confirmed that silicon dioxide content is present as fine-grained quartz and simple screening could reduce the content, thus increasing the aluminium oxide content with minimal loss of tonnage.

“I am very excited that the company has delivered a successful maiden resource of over 100 million tonnes at the Bouba Plateaux,” Chairman Asimwe Kabunga commented.

“This has confirmed our belief in the quality of our Gaoual Project, with bauxite grades superior to the product currently being sold in the international markets,” he added.

Lindian is now in the progress of identifying a resource estimate for the neighbouring Mamaya plateau and it will be announced in the near future.

Company shares are steady on the market today and are trading for 1.5 cents each at 1:46 pm AEST.
