Lithium Energy (LEL) has begun drilling at its highly prospective flagship Solaroz lithium brine project in Argentina.

Drilling has begun at borehole OZDH001 within the Mario Angel concession and marks the first of a 10-hole diamond and rotary hole drilling program.

The aim of this program is to test the extent and grade of the lithium mineralisation, porosity and flow rate across the conductive brines.

Further, Lithium Energy will seek to confirm the exploration target of 1.5 to 8.7 million tonnes of contained lithium carbonate equivalent and define a maiden JORC mineral resource.

Previous geophysical work confirmed the presence of significant volumes of potential lithium-hosting brines with thicknesses up to 300 metres and depths of up to 500 metres.

Lithium Energy will interpret the results from the geophysics to determine optimal locations for the remaining holes.

Murray Booker has been engaged as Technical Consultant to oversee the preparation of the maiden JORC mineral resource for Solaroz.

“The commencement of drilling at Solaroz is a major milestone for Lithium Energy, with the objective of the planned drilling program being to define a maiden JORC mineral resource of lithium at Solaroz,” Executive Chairman William Johnson said.

Lithium Energy was up 2.17 per cent on the market with shares trading at $1.18 at 3:09 pm AEST.
