Los Cerros (LCL) has reported high-grade gold from soil channel sampling work at the Dosquebradas gold-copper porphyry in its Quinchia project in Risaralda, Colombia.

The company has completed over 200 metres of soil channel sampling across an area of “sparse drilling” roughly 200 metres above historical drill holes, which intersected 199.9 metres at 0.98 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 122.1 metres.

Through soil channel sampling from trenches, Los Cerros hit 146.6 metres at 1.82 g/t gold including 34 metres at 4.22 g/t gold and 40 metres at 2.16 g/t gold.

“We believe an early diorite dyke and associated breccia logged in historical drill core extends to surface in this region, and our channel and auger samples have told us we are on the right track,” Managing Director Jason Stirbinskis said.

“High gold grades at the surface such as those we have just encountered could have a positive impact on Dosquebradas economics and its contribution to the Quinchia project.”

The company said higher-grade channel and auger samples that occurred beyond the historical 0.5-g/t gold envelope defining the Dosquebradas resource suggested potential extensions to surface of the current high-grade resource envelopes.

The company will integrate the new target area into its ongoing project geological review, which is targeting high-grade resources proximal to those resources.

Shares in Los Cerros were up 12.5 per cent to 2.7 cents at 1:53 pm AEDT.
