Mantle Minerals (ASX:MTL) has upgraded the JORC mineral resource estimate at its Highway nickel deposit, part of the company’s Pardoo project in WA’s Pilbara.

The total resource now stands at 16.5 million tonnes at 0.407 per cent nickel for a total of 67,005 tonnes of nickel metal.

The upgrade was reported by independent mining consultant MEC Mining in December 2023 and follows an infill drilling program completed by Mantle in September 2022.

Next steps

The company announced it was pleased with the resource upgrade, however, remains focused on exploring for gold at its Roberts Hill and Mt Berghaus targets.

These targets are immediately north of the 12.5 million-ounce gold discovery made by De Grey Mining (ASX:DEG) at its Hemi Gold deposit.

Any further work at Pardoo will be limited to identifying new nickel deposits from geophysical anomalies in the area. Geological recommendations have suggested drilling downdip and along strike where the mineral resource remains open.

MTL shares last traded at 0.3 cents.
