At The Bell — Australian shares are headed for a +0.25% gain this morning, largely thanks to Wall Street overcoming recent tech and semiconductor weakness. That 20-point hike will take us above 8,800 points again in Week 30.

Listen to the HotCopper podcast for in-depth discussions and insights on all the biggest headlines from throughout the week. On Spotify, Apple, and more.

The advance due mid-week comes despite Brent crude oil still surging back towards $100 a barrel again. Black gold is at a five-week high on Trump warning the U.S. is “not finished” attacking Iran, and suggesting his American Army forces will soon be striking an underground nuclear compound “soon.”

On Wall Street, the Nasdaq composite finished +1.3% higher, while the S&P 500 rose +0.9% and the Dow added +0.7%. London up, +0.58% at close.

Westpac is releasing its June leading index at 10.30AM today as well.

ASX stocks to watch

In stocks, Sydney-based cloud provider IREN (NASDAQ:IREN) has signed new multi-year contracts with AI devs worth up to US$2.8 billion. IREN shares hiked +9% in the U.S. (the company doesn’t trade in Oz).

Earnings roll on Down Under as well, with Karoon Energy (ASX:KAR), Santos (ASX:STO), and Sandfire Resources (ASX:SFR) among those with updates. Macquarie (ASX:MGQ) has an AGM on the calendar for this morning, too.

HUB24 (ASX:HUB) has been one of the best of the bunch in those that have already reported, recording an $18.9B lift in net inflows in FY26.

The biggest winner, though, has been South32 (ASX:S32): a strong quarterly report Tuesday set the large-cap miner up for a +6.6% jump. The standout was how well the “transformational” US$5.6B Alcoa divestment went.

And, Tabcorp (ASX:TAH) has been fined $2.7M for spamming “VIP” customers.

Buck and ore

In forex, the Oz dollar is buying US 69.9c today,

Then to commodities, all in the greenback,

Brent Crude climbing, +2.5% higher to $91.50/barrel,

Iron Ore dropped another -1.2%, to $98.45 a tonne in Singapore,

That’s HotCopper‘s Market Open, I’m Isaac McIntyre – happy trading today.
