Marmota (MEU) is set to commence drilling at its Aurora Tank project in South Australia’s Gawler Craton next week.

The news comes after yesterday’s announcement of results including one metre at 217 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from a downhole depth of 118 metres in hole.

This was backed by further intersections including one metre at 42 g/t gold from 77 metres, and one metre at 32 g/t gold from 32 metres, along with multiple high grade extensions to the north east, south west and at depth.

The results marked Marmota’s fifth drilling program at Aurora Tank which intersected grades of more than 100 g/t gold over one metre.

Marmota said the results demonstrate the high grades occur not only close to surface but also extend deeper into fresh material.

As such, this has given rise to immediate high-priority drilling targets that the company said it will now follow up.

“We are very fortunate that Aurora Tank combines high-grade intersections that are predominantly close to surface, with excellent metallurgy, making Aurora Tank potentially amenable to low-cost low capex open-pittable heap leach methods, which are our clear focus,” Marmota Chair Dr Colin Rose said.

Up to 80 reverse circulation holes will be drilled in next week’s program, for a total of 8000 metres.

The new reverse circulation drilling program will continue until hitting the Woomera Defence Area closure, and will then recommence when the area re-opens in November.
