Marmota (MEU) has set a date for its planned diamond drilling program at the Aurora Tank Gold Discovery in South Australia.

The 14-hole, 1000-metre drilling program is expected to begin on July 1 and will take about one month to complete.

Drilling will aim to provide necessary details needed to advance the discovery to the production phase.

These include designing optimal pit walls, and bulk density measurements which are required for completing resource estimation as well as scoping and feasibility studies. The program will also provide bulk samples which will support the final phase of metallurgical testing.

In addition to diamond drilling, the company is planning a separate reverse circulation drilling program to further grow the discovery.

“We are carrying out the diamond program first, as our priority is to get the necessary scoping, feasibility and final metallurgical studies completed as soon as possible,” Chair Dr Colin Rose said.

Marmota has already completed camp infrastructure upgrades and new water tanks arrived to the site last month in preparation for the drilling program.

The company is confident in the upcoming drill effort as the most recent drilling returned outstanding high-grade intersections. As reported in February, drilling returned one metre at 165g/t gold from 57 metres — the highest-ever result ever seen at Aurora Tank.

Marmota’s shares were trading 2.22 per cent lower at 4.4 cents at 10:04 am AEST.
